Koda, a four-year-old cheetah at Zoo Miami, picked Carl Edwards to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
Koda is the official Zoo Miami “Wildlife Prognosticator.”
Koda had four bowls of meat to choose from in front of each drivers number. In addition to Number 19 Carl Edwards, Koda’s choices included Joey Logano, defending champion Kyle Busch and six-time champion Jimmie Johnson.
But Koda went straight to Number 19.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion will be decided on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway at the Ford EcoBoost 400.
‘This is is not a sporting event, it’s a cultural event, it’s something that people don’t understand. It’s the Super Bowl of events. It’s so exciting,” exclaimed Zoo Miami Communications Director and Goodwill Ambassador Ron Magill. “There is no bigger event in Miami-Dade County than this race.”
Let’s hope he can improve his prediction record. Last year, Koda predicted Kevin Harvick would win but it was actually Kyle Busch.
When asked what would he do if Koda got it wrong for a second year in a row, Magill joked, “If Koda gets it wrong this year, we’ll have a meeting and discuss it and consider it in his evaluation.”
