“Ice Bucket Challenge” Makes Way to Smithsonian

Back in 2014 the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” was started with a blue plastic bucket. People all across the world took on the challenge sharing videos on social media of them dumping ice-cold water on their heads, which in return raised awareness and over 50 million dollars towards ALS research.

Well, the blue plastic bucket that started it all is headed to Washington, DC. The Smithsonian says the original bucket from the first “ice bucket challenge” will be put on display starting today. The blue bucket will be part of a National Museum of American History exhibit on the history of philanthropy.
