Mamma Mia…. 117 years old! Yep…. Emma Morano is the world’s oldest living person celebrating her 117th birthday yesterday in her one room apartment in the northern mountain town of Verbania, Italy. Emma is believed to be the last person in the world born in the 1800’s.
Italy’s president appeared in a brief live broadcast wishing her “serenity and good health.” She had some cookies and milk. Blew out the candles on her cake too. (not 100 candles… 3 candles 1 0 0 )
Ya know…. Italy has a lot of centenarians. Lots of em live in Sardinia… which is an island in the Mediterranean. Emma was interviewed last year and she said her long life was due to her diet. 3 raw eggs a day. Actually… now… after a bit of anemia… Emma has 2 raw eggs and 150 grams of raw steak. Emma was sick quite often as a child and has been on that diet since. A New York Times article said… Emma attributed her long life to 3 raw eggs and being single. She had an unhappy marriage that ended in 1938.
Something else too…. Dr. Bava said… Diet aside… Ms. Morano had lived such a long life because she was cared for. He said… “The secret is in growing old with people who love you, which is different from growing old and being put up with. Assisted-living facilities are fine and full of good people, but it’s not the same thing as the affection of loved ones.” #love : )
Happy Birthday Miss Emma. Big Hug!
Hmm… i could do the raw eggs… not so sure about the raw steak. And …get rid of the husband? : ) – Darlene Evans
